I agree. Folks like Skyhigh and Tony Montana suggest that it's easy to make regional Capt pay doing anything from Bus driver, to Cop, to tile layer, outside of flying. Even get to be home every night. Would love to hear from those who follow the Tony Montana route to an easy 300K in the medical biz. Fly your own Pitts and screw the airlines, he says. I don't think it's as easy as it sounds but more power to those who walk away and go that route.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that it was an "easy" journey, looking back over the last 7 1/2 years, i'd say it was one of the hardest things I ever did. It is also one of the most rewarding things I ever did, for myself and my family.
I have 2 careers essentially, because I am still sitting on an ATP/MEL, CFI/AI/ME, with 1 type rating, and a medical career that is extremely lucrative.
That someone can turn disaster into success should not pose a threat to anyone here, that's the spirit of this great country.
