They know it's short notice. They are looking for good candidates. And no, they won't throw your resume and app away. I'd suggest you give them a call back after a week or so to do two things: indicate your continued interest and desire for the next interview date, and to keep the contact alive. Don't let it drop. But give them (Cathy or Chuck) a call this time.
