I don't know about you, but I'll take a government guaranteed job over a furlough merry-go-round anyday. Anytime an airline makes a good profit someone is going to step in and screw it up. Without government intervention we're doomed to more of the same or worse treatment as pilots.

Also, Southwest started as a low paying carrier. The only reason they are in the top now is because everyone else took a hit post 9/11 and Southwest's wagering on fuel prices paid off. If fuel had gone down then you'd be saying how great United is.
