Mesa is also something a lot of us are considering because there is no light at the end of the tunnel anywhere else. Being in a pool at Eagle, or Comair your options are limited with everyone elses furloughing or announced furloughing intentions.
Many of you think that being a "CFI" is the honorable thing to do but, being honorable doesn't always pay the bills. Ask the AMFA mechanics at NWA, how striking for unfair wages worked out for them in 2004. In the end this industry is what it is. And you will be used by your company, so if a company offers you a way to progress through your career, take it. No one has SJS here. At some point another 100 hours of dual given SEL means nothing on your resume. Turbine time is more valuable then anything you can do in a Da-20 or C172, and it it would help all of those teaching steep turns and stall progress in the careers.
Yes unfortunately there are some on here with SJS. No, maybe another 100 hrs of dual given may not mean too much on the resume but jumping on Mesa just because "all the others are pooling or announcing furloughs" is a short-sided look at how to get into the industry. Mesa has some SERIOUS issues on the horizon that could effect them much beyond just a furlough. Then what? So you go a few hundred hours in the shiny new jet, were jr assigned left and right, treated like dirt for what....so you didn't have to instruct anymore? Just because Mesa is the only seeming game in town right now thats hiring doesn't mean its a smart move at all. Take it from those of us that have the experience. Its not a smart move.
