If we last this down turn with out getting furloughed then we are setting our selves up to be in a good position for the next up swing. If things dont work out then we are right back to were we were as flight instructors. I have friends that fly for Mesa who are young and single, and they are having the time of their lives. It really does beat instructing, if I dont have a wife and kids to come home to then why shouldnt I work alot and build my experience and maybe make some money. I know your gonna flame me next for the money comment but getting JA or picking up trips pays 1.5. Mesa does suck for those who have reasons to be home and I can understand that, but honestly you shouldnt come on here telling people who you dont even know what they should and should not do with their lives. What a typical Mesa thread it goes way to long because some one asks a question and then the so called "aviation gods" have to chime in and tell them how things should be and what they should do with their lives. One word of advice worry about your self first Wiz, I mean honestly do you really think im gonna come on here and allow some guy who I dont even know to make my life decisions for me.
Listen I'm not making life decisions for you. Like BUR said only you can do that. But if you make the decision to go to Mesa after actually doing some due diligence on them (which its obvious you haven't) or after LISTENING, yes listening and not getting defensive when someone who worked at Mesa is trying to help you, then you're a fool.
The reason you hear things like "your lowering the bar" and "thanks for supporting the race to the bottom" is because Mesa has one of the worst pay scales in the regionals. Other companies see this and see all the wide-eyed kids out there with SJS who don't care about the pay or the qol or the contract or its management flocking to Mesa because its an easier "foot in the door" (I WAS ONE OF THEM AND REGRET IT!!!!) which gives them potent ammunition to attempt to lowball their own pilots. Its a major reason why we ALL get paid nowhere near what we should as pilots.
I'm not here to dash hopes, to "bash" Mesa wannabes or to act like an "aviation god". Just trying to focus some eyes that are otherwise like a deer in headlights with a shiny new CRJ in its sights. I know it looks MUCH more glamorous than a 172 with supposed bragging rights, but its not like your going from AAA ball to "The Show" making a move to an airline. It doesn't work that way AT ALL
