Why does Mesa pay historical block only? That means if the flight pays 2 hours and it ends up being a 5 hour flight because of a meltdown at JFK, you get paid 2 hours for 5 hours of work.
I won't jump in this arguement, but will provide a factual answer to 2 of your questions.
We gave up cancellation pay, block or better and a myriad of other things when we got the Freedom Airlines A list pilots back on the MAG master seniority list.
Roughly translated: We gave up everything to end the alter ego airline that was created by our management to fly -700's and -900's for -200 rates.
The contract has been amendable since September.
