This madness has to stop somewhere. By bringing the insanity into the flight deck instead of leaving it at the gate, it becomes a never ending cycle.
While I agree that Mesa/Freedom as an airline is bottom feeding, we shouldn't be taking it out on the pilots trying to get a ride to and from work. Instead, how about showing a little support and unity amongst pilot groups.
Someone once told me that an airline pilot's best friend is another airline pilot. I happen to agree with that, especially since this industry is a very small world. That one guy you are denying the jumpseat to could be the person that is on your interview board at the next airline you are trying to get on with or worse -- the check airman on your initial checkride at your next airline.
