Yes there are some folks who were ground side managers at UPS. I think what they actually had to do was quit UPS all together, work on the flight time, then re-apply to UPS hoping to get hired as flight crew. Not positive about this but fairly certain.

I'm sure its somewhat of a risky proposition, but if aviation is what you love and you want to fly airplanes this might be what you have to do. Of course I would check it out thoroughly before making any big career decisions.
