Maybe I read the vote tallys wrong but I thought Bush backed down after he saw it going through house and senate with veto-proof majorities.

Webb has always been a personal hero, this just elevated his ranking that much more.
Well, then follow up on full disclosure <g> and assume Sen Warner went up in your stock as well ? The Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act (S 22), though introduced by Senator Jim Webb (D-VA), and added into the Senate's 2008 Supplemental Appropriations bill back in May, was co-sponsored by Virginia’s other Senator, John Warner (R-VA), as well as 56 other Senators. Clearly, a joint effort of both parties and not just Sen Webb.
