I'm furloughed from a little experiment that showed people will pay for items a` la carte that other airlines claimed were included for free.

Southwest is not run by idiots - the cost of the two checked bags, soft drinks and peanuts are not free - those "extras" are included in the pricing.

The legacy carriers' hot meals of yesterday were included in the pricing as well.

Wish we all had the airline executives of yesterday.

C.R. Smith would take out a full page ad and explain his airlines cost structure to the flying public:

"Our infrastructure allows our passengers and their checked baggage to connect from many hundred different cities worldwide with one ticket purchase.

As a result, we do charge more than some domestic airlines on certain U.S. city pairs.

However, for that additional cost on those certain U.S. city pairs, you still earn mileage for free travel to destinations our competitors cannot reach."
