It may not be true but a Delta flight attendant told me that Delta gets all their soda and snacks for free, all they pay is the shipping fees. The give it for free to advertise their products, like the Biscof cookies. The funny thing is the fight attendant told me that Delta was complaining that they had to pay for shipping.
