Backlogs don't mean much when you are a large company like AA or Delta. Boeing will find a way to get them aircraft when they want them. The VP of flight ops at Delta stated numerous times that they can get 787 when needed if needed. The winglets for the 767 and the weight and range problems on the 787 are making it less attractive. Many buyers are waiting for the -9 version.
