UAL to Rethink Fleet Size Decrease and Furloughs
Looks like UAL's plan to get rid of the 737s and Furlough 1000+ pilots is being adjusted... mainly due to flying hour forecasts... but my guess is also that fuel prices are lower. New plan for 2009 requires many of the soon to be parked 737s (30ish) to remain on property for the calendar year... also, manning levels were improperly calculated... resulting in a stop to 737 surpluses for the time being and impending furloughs.
Might just be a stall by mgmt... but a move in the right direction for the short term. Only time will tell.
