Maybe I'm missing something here (3 hours sleep) but 20-30 minutes isn't enough time to run a 12 item before start checklist? or maybe a FD inspection check too? Have fun explaining that to the CP when he recommends you for a PC or to the NMB saying the pilots aren't playing fair.
p.s. since I know people will misread/misinterpret this, no I am not advocating our stellar on time performance. But sometimes management finally gets scared, the stars all align just right, and the ramp/gate is finally fully staffed making it really tough, absent a MTX issue, to justify a late departure.
