To the original poster, don't worry about how others think you'll do. If you really want it then go for it. If I would have listened to all the naysayers I would still be CFI or working in the regionals (not a dig on them). I was told no less than 15 times that I wouldn't be able to be an Air Force pilot, that just pi$$ed me off and gave me even more drive.

Goodluck, and look into the guard as well. I can't count how many times I have heard, I wish I was in the guard.
