That sounds about right but check this out. When I was in High School in 1978 I went to the "career" center to check out
The Big Book of Jobs. I looked up airline pilots and read that the average pilot made $95,000/yr. How much is that today? I don't know, about $250,000? I'm pretty sure the average ATC guy made about $25,000 in 1978.
Not to say ATC guys are paid too much. To me, they are worth every penny. It is a job they do extremely well and one I could never do as well.
