The pilot getting out of the B-58 at the end of the video enlisted as a private in 1941 before Pearl Harbor, was commissioned after completing pilot training, instructed in B-17s before deploying to Europe, flying at least 20 combat missions in the B-24. At the end of the war, he was a Colonel, with a Distinguished Flying Cross and several Air Medals.
He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve despite a lucrative civilian career, reaching the rank of Brigadier General. He flew as an observer on a B-52 mission over Vietnam during that war.
