I agree, and as long as they act professional, most passengers will probably fall for it. Honestly, I haven't had a bad experience with the TSA in over a year. Part of that is because I follow the rules. You would be surprised at how many pilots / flight attendants get mad when they get treated like passengers when out of uniform. You HAVE to be in uniform in order to carry > 3 oz. through. Stupid? yes, but we all know the rules.

If I worked for the TSA, I would probably get frustrated at people who either didn't notice, or simply ignored the 50 announcements and 100 signs leading up to the security checkpoint that clearly outline the rules.
