Civilians are asked to have an FAA Class 1 medical in their application package to the unit. At least that has been the case for every unit I ever applied to or seen advertising an interview date.

However if selected to go to UPT then an Air Force Flying Class One medical is required. That is handled by the AF and is a whole nother ball game from the FAA medical.
