The email is as follows:

<<<<NON-REV TRAVEL>>>><<<<<1W JUMPSEAT>>>>>
THERE HAVE BEEN ALOT OF INSTANCES LATELY WITH CREWMEMBERS
REQUESTING THE 1-W TO AVOID PAYING NON-REV SERVICE CHARGES
WE HAVE BEEN GETTING COMPLAINTS FROM AA REGARDING THIS
PRACTICE AND NEED TO CLEAR UP WHAT APPEARS TO BE SOME
MISUNDERSTANDING WITH THE TRAVEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
BOTH THE TRIP BOOK AND THE F*PSM STATE THAT THE 1-W CAN
ONLY BE ASSIGNED WHEN THERE ARE NO SEAT AVAILABLE IN THE
CABIN. PLEASE REFER TO THE TRIP BOOK IN JETNET AND ALSO
THE PSM IN RES (F*PSM/JUMPSEAT, F*33) FOR DETAILED INFO.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TRAVEL PRIVILEGES ARE JUST THAT AND
CAN BE REVOKED AT ANYTIME. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY OF
MY PILOTS END UP IN THIS SITUATION. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE
CONTACT YOUR CHIEF PILOT.

Why our travel privileges could be revoked for asking for the 1-W I have no clue - its the gate agents that should be getting in trouble for giving out the 1-W when there are seats available in the cabin, not the pilots for simply asking for the jumpseat. Ultimately, the gate agents are in control of who gets what, as we are all well aware.

But that's the program.
