Why did ALPA negotiate (freeze) the "A" fund away in contract 02 instead of increasing the 8.9% paycut to something higher and saving the "A" fund? It all had to do with dues intake. ALPA wasn't collecting dues on the "A" fund. It was win win for ALPA and Continental. ALPA has their interests squarely on dues, not representation. It tends to trickle down from there. When it comes to "holy enough", there isn't anyone with that good. Just because a certain person is willing to give up time to the union doesn't make them a good person. You seem to think that volunteering personal time is the litmus test for loyality. Well, sorry to say, it isn't. I volunteered my time, and no one even knew it. You see, you don't have to be in the spot light to prove your worth...especially to you. I spent enough time at national debating the issues I was involved in. Please tell me why Jayson supports a move to APA? Ask him why he used to wear an APA pin? That's loyality. Are you questioning me as to my ability to get days off? You know better than to ask that question...answer...PBS! I guess next time I should just call in sick...then appear on a group photo of the pilots attending...duh! I surely hope we end up with reps in EWR that have the ability to represent. God knows we haven't had any yet.
Skybo,
Thanks for the comments. I DO agree with most of what you said, contrary to what you may think. I guess I'm just tired of seeing the same "elect and recall" scenario go on and on and on. Why can't we seem to elect members who WANT to do what's best for us? I guess it's like the guys/gals running for president of the USA. They're willing to promise anything to get elected, then they do nothing but feather their own nest and look out for their buddies when they do get in the Whitehouse, meanwhile we all get crapped on. I also find it hard to believe that ALPA's attorney's can never seem to get ahead of managements/the company's attorney's. Why is that? With all the dues money coming in from over 45,000 pilots, you'd think we could afford the best PILOT negotiating attorney's in the country. But we end up with crap.......EVERY TIME. I'm as frustrated as you, but I'm at a loss to understand how we're going to correct this big mess. Changing representatives every few months is yielding us nothing.................so what next?
