Sounds like JO considers them furloughed (he gave them numbers). So you think JO is too easy on his pilots?
Those people, as inexperienced and insignificant as they may be, probably all gave up jobs and cleared their schedules for six months to attend training...it would nice if their committment is reciprocated by the company.
I'm not excusing their judgement failure for accepting a job at MAG in the first place.
