After taxes and insurance you'd be living on $75,000 a year. Right now your total compensation package is about 400K (when you count insurance, 401K, Bfund, and vacation)

I don't think your math is right. Did you forget about the $25000 medical debit card?? My father-in-law retired back in '06. He says his checks seem bigger than when he was here getting all the stuff taken out of them. He hasn't had to touch his 401k and doesn't at all seem like he is struggling to get by. Of course he is on wife #1 and had everything paid off!!
He was here 27 years and WB Capt from '86 to '06.
