No matter how rough it gets under the heading of #2, I, for one, will always have a smile on my face when I think of general aviation, $100 hamburgers, glider flying, R/C flying, etc.
Not me. I left GA when I left instructing and I haven't looked back. My memories of GA are not pleasant.
I remember hot summer days, very low wages (when White Castle hamburgers seemed like a $100), students with more money than common sense, the smell of oil and avgas, cramped cockpits and very low wages.
The winter time was the same except that it was incredibly freezing outside. And the wages were very low.
Don't get me wrong, aviation has turned out to be a great
career, and GA was a means to help me get to where I am today, but I do not desire to take part in it as a hobby. Personally, especially when the air outside is very cold, I would rather be in a billiards hall playing pool.
