Unless I am trying to sell my house, I tell everyone I live in a terrible area. This discourages people from moving in and causing congestion.

The same principle applies if a pilot with more seniority asks how you like that new airplane you just trained on: "It's horrible! Do not bid that thing under any circumstances!"
