I didn't get a personal letter in the mail, but our chief pilot at FDX said the AF contacted HIM and told him that they were looking for voluntary recalls for interested people and would he please disseminate the contact info to the crew force. At least that's how I read his latest FCIF. Kind of odd, not sure what's up. In these days of economic uncertainty, however, the 0-4 paycheck and benefits are nothing to sneeze at. I've been off AD for 3.5 years now, and though I have a good job at FDX, I now realize that there were ALOT of jobs in the AF that I would happily have done. Once you set aside your pre-conceived notions of how your career track is supposed to go, a whole new world opens up. As long as I'm happy, momma's happy, and the family is taken care of, there's no job I wouldn't consider doing. Good luck to anyone who pursues this option and keep us posted. Even FDX isn't safe from furlough these days....
