For those of you with experience in this area, what are the ramifications with a civilian job in this situation? I just got hired by NetJets, would I keep my seniority number if I go back? I think I know the answer to this, but can you get tagged for a 365-day trip to the sandbox if you volunteer to come back, or is there some kind of "7-day opt" clause that would get you out of it? Thanks for the help. I sent an e-mail to AFPC with a bunch of questions, I'll post the answers if they get back with me.
I remember soon after the first VSP in 1991/92 guys were asked to come back on AD as well. As far as I know, virtually all of them got screwed. Many did not get promoted and did get thrown out a few years later. I suppose it would be a different story if you went into the Reserves after initially leaving AD and then went back on AD, at least then you'd have a military record (i.e. OPRs etc) during your non-AD time. Many of the intitial VSPrs did not go into the reserves and were plucked back on AD from civilian life.
