Many years ago, there was a DAL captain who would issue instructions to the f/o and s/o via a hand puppet called "Freddy the Fox". This became a source of annoyance, and one day Freddy mysteriously disappeared. A photo of Freddy in a noose was posted on a bulletin board. His owner was frantic. A chief pilot eventually put the squeeze on likely suspects and rescued Freddy the Fox, but grounded him.
