New hires get perdiem if their sim training takes them away from MSP. When you're training you're "based" in MSP because that's where our trianing center is, so if you leave it, you get perdiem. After training is complete and you're on the line you start getting perdiem any time you leave your base. Unfortunately, MSP pilots never get perdiem when they go to the training center for training, because of its location. Be thankful new hires, this was a new development this spring. Newhires traditionally NEVER got perdiem until completion of IOE.

How many times does someone have to dispell rumors on this board? There are plenty of former 121 pilots with upwards of 1,000 hours in class right now. You cannot figure out what XJ is doing by reading the posts of rejected applicants. They do not represent the hundreds of apps each week. True, there are flight instructors as well, but the 300 hour pilots do not dominate the classes. They never have. Everyone with 121 and "high time" think they deserve the job. Nobody owes you anything.

It's a complete numbers game. There are X amount of spots for class. There are Y amount of applicants. X < Y. That means there will be lots of disapointed people. Mesaba has the pick of the litter right now and that means a balanced mix of applicants with various time on their reusmes will be hired.
