Carl,

You nailed it. This is good news for all of us, as I'm more confident now that both sides will actually be able to NEGOTIATE a list that can be perceived as fair by the most number of pilots of both airlines, rather than abdicate that responsibility to an outsider.

Of course, there will always be those who will say for the rest of their career how they got screwed in the merger, but hopefully they'll be in the minority on both sides.

Good luck to all of us next week, as we hear NWALPA's version of "fair and equitable".

Report: council backs NWA union official

Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal - by Katharine Grayson Staff Writer

A top Northwest Airlines Corp. pilots union official has gained a “vote of confidence” from a council governing the union, according to an Associated Press report.
The Eagan-based carrier’s pilots are now negotiating with their counterparts at Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines Inc., as the airlines prepare to merge. The unions are crafting a seniority list, which will determine which pilots will get benefits such as better schedules. A few pilots had expressed concern that NWA’s (NYSE: NWA) union members may be biased because they will be pursuing seniority perks, according to the report.
However, in a vote Thursday, the union’s executive council passed a resolution backing union leaders.
