I know in the past HKG was one of the easiest/quickest places to get new passport pages added, but now you need an appointment and the embassy is across the harbor. The captain on my last trip told me about another embassy that was much quicker, but of course I can't remember where it was. Anybody done this recently?
It took me about 10 min. to get them in HKG. Having an appointment will expedite the process, not delay it. You can book yourself on their website.
