It's not predicting the future. Airline pilots have to retire at 60 (at least for now). Airlines have pilot senoirity lists with dates of birth. You can figure out how many will retire by a certain date. No crystal balls needed. I don't know about other airlines, but at mine 1/2 the pilots retire in the next 8-10 years. Everyone on property now will be a Captian. New hires right now can hold the junior CA position in 4 years. Sounds good to me. I'm 500 numbers from CA.
