Wow, even I'm not that drastic... Compass, Mesaba, Comair and the other owned ones are ok too... my statement was towards places that will wear somebody elses colors, while trying to undercut those with decent, or formerly decent jobs; accelerating the race to the bottom. If undercutting places didn't exist, or if pilots had any fortitude at all and refused to work at such places, the owned companies would simply have to grow... instead of growing, the companies simply pit one subcontractor against another... taking us all down with them.
So, my comment was, if you are going to have to leave one of these types of outfits... why would you make the same mistake twice?

Now you are getting the right attitude, but it would have been best to have had it before enabling such outfits to continue operating... the flying will exist, and will continue to exist. If one of these regionals vanish tomorrow, another will just grow bigger... so long as people will work for places that pretend to be somebody else for less money, it hurts us all.
It is difficult when the only places hiring are the crappy places, but there are those among us who will not lower themselves to be part of that type of operation.

I know of several folks who could have had jobs at any of those regionals long long ago, and instead continued working their regular jobs and flying corporate or traffic or whatever until the decent companies were hiring, then they went. Hats off to them for standing up for what they believe in. Just because a place is willing to hire you does not mean it is the job you should take. For what they pay RJ FO's the first several years most would be better off financially working as a trash collector... flying on the side until a real job opens up.

An oversimplification of course; but it does highlight some of the cause-effect issues in the profession.

Only if the US had one and only one airline (or union) would your thought be able.
