AWAC and every other airline has been raped and downsized (asked skywest), so that RAH could grow. AWAC is a shadow of its former self.
Actually, SkyWest got to experience growth during the UAL BK/Bain process in which AWAC and ACA were the casualties.

AWAC was moving into IAH before that. I was based in IAD in the summer of 2002, they were there. Albeit, in a very limited capacity. But UAL had plans for them there before they filed Ch.11 and were parting ways with ACA.

That wasn't the ONLY time UAL gave them the dis. They bought AWAC back in the 90's to get their slots in Chicago. When they decided to break them up, they basically forced some of the planes and the pilots onto ACA. The first couple pages of our (ACA) seniority list was a mishmash of odd seniority numbers with out of sequence hire dates. Some of the guys from WestAir/NPA, but many of them from AWAC as well. UAL gave pref interviews to many of the AWAC pilots, and there is whole bunch of drama that went with that. It ended up being a crappy deal for the AWAC pilots that went to ACA. They (AWAC) had some of the best pay for their equipment at the time. A -8 FO BACK then was making in the $30/hr range. Those guys got to become J31 FO's for somewhere around $13/hr.
