Question for some of the guys going to Mesaba. I was starting to fill out the application until I realized that it would take almost 5 years to break $30 an hour. Are those numbers correct? I took them off of Bored's post under the Mesaba new hires thread. If it is correct then I wish you guys luck.
No that is not true. Mesaba has a snap back provision come December that will give us a raise back to the 2004 rate and there are no FOs with 5 years in unless you want to stay an FO. Upgrade into the Saab has been less than 7 months for those with ATP minimums. So you can upgrade into the Saab in less than a year and make about $45/hour. Mesaba has decent work rules which makes it possible for you to make more per month than at regionals which may have a nominally higher rate but has lousy work rules. I found out that while higher rate is nice it is not the only thing you should be looking at. Work rules that permit you to make more is also important. Ideally both element should be there. I am not saying Mesaba payrate is good, but you wind up making about the same amount as you would at a place that has a slightly higher pay rate.
