What makes sense, isn't what UPS does alot of the times. There's the wild card. Its bean counters who make the numbers look good and not make sense. First more experts if you can call them that are now saying this recession has the make up of the 1980-83 recession that last 9 Qts (negative or flap GDP). This recession was the longest since the one in the 30's and a little longer then the second longest that occured in the middle 50's after the draw down from the Korean War. Also, almost no one is called up to the military right now unless they want to be and if they dont, the unit deployments dont last longer then 90 days for any unit unless you extend and they occur one time a year for only a fraction of the unit and most slots are taken by voluteers. So don't on the military thing to even be considered. 125 retirements is not right, those in the front only acount for about 57 retirements in the next three years. I bet you would not see one over 60 guys walk away from his $250,000 and five weeks of vacation to help the young guys unless they got something from UPS. UPS works on profit margins and Return on Investment, ROI. This is everything to keep their dividends up and investers happy. So the pax airline thing doesn't work here. Also, I'm sure that Rick Bar, Bobby l. and the boys in ATL don't give a crap about if a jet is ugly or not. Simple does it make money and can we make more over the long term if we used a newer or different model. Will it happen, well this is Vegas with the twist of your job and everyone has his view. Its funny how one manager sais the deal is "dead" the other is "its on, but much smaller" and then another is "its on still the same lift" They don't know they are just making guesses just like us and if they say they know, they are full of it. Now everybody back to buying big homes and stop by the dealership and pick up a new car and some more debt. You know this is America what could go wrong.
