GO TO THE FIRST AIRLINE THAT HIRES YOU!
If it's AE, so be it. No one says you have to stay there.
Getting some valuable 121 training and a few months of turbine time will make your resume more attractive to any employer you subsequently apply with. (Just ask all the F/Os who spent a few months on the Saab then got hired at Skywest with more competitive flight times...)
True story:
I had a friend interviewing here (not skywest) and there were several people there who did just that - went to a 121 company and were interviewing after getting on the line. My company didn't like the fact that they were leaving their company so quickly.
None were hired. Was it interview skills? Probably not, because they were working for a 121 carrier before.
Another true story. Groups of TSA furloughees have been interviewing here lately. Out of 4, only one was hired on the lastest round of interviews. Just because someone has 121 time does not make them "more employable". If you think this you are severely mistaken.
If you *really* want to make your resume stand out, go fly freight at a company like airnet or AMF. Much better pay than eagle too. And you start flying right away instead of 2-3 months of training.
Also, I made more as a CFI than I did going to eagle (no way in hell will you make $30k/yr at eagle in the prop, which is where I would've gone due to my age) - it was a no brainer for me, and I had an interview at 500/100. I chose to stay CFI'ing. It was a good choice IMO. I was hired here directly from CFI'ing.
