Officially its an aircraft lock not a seat lock so you could hypothetically upgrade in your aircraft in less than two years, however upgrades are more than two years now. As far as aircraft goes you will never see a new hire go into the 320 ever again, because there are guys on the E190 that have there two years in and will always be transitioning over to the 320 when there is a vacancy on that aircraft. I am a E190 FO and I commute from LGB to JFK, there at least a dozen of us that do that and we are all waiting for our two years to come so we can get awarded 320 LGB. Now about that commute, I have been commuting to the east coast for a couple of years now and just like anything else you get use to it. I average 15-16 days off a month and have to stay in the pad 1 or 2 nights a month.
