I'm single and live in base, so I can actually use my flight benefits for my own pleasure rather than commuting back and forth to home! I've actually done a trip to Asia with only 5 days off, and Dublin/AMS with 4 days off. My captains think I'm weird when I tell them what I did on my days off..

All that on a FO budget as well! (Helps not having kids or a wife and living in cheap ass Detroit) It's actually pretty easy to make friends overseas and dramatically lower your costs by crashing at their place, etc.. Hostels are also an option. I usually jumpseat to avoid paying nonrev fees.
