Haven't taken an in depth look at it, but, seems like the FAA ruling is more restrictive than the "380" limitations in our contract.
So, Day 1 MEM-CAN for 16 hours, then min of 48 off (could be less w/specific rest requirements), then back. So, will the 48 off fit with the normal flight pattern or will it be greater.
If the company goes for a longer layover, opens up guys for field replacement should a dude get sick out in the field.
So, maybe the 777 will be a 6 or 7 day pairing with a mongo layover in the middle.
MEM-MEM for a sim, 24 hour off, 16 hour flight, 60-72 off, fly home
Good for us, I think. It'll help us at the negotiating table if the FAA has already mandated certain rules and perhaps it'll mean a need for new pilots. Also, there will be changes when we go to Flag carrier ops. Not sure of the details, but we'll need 30 hours off in seven days and some other rest periods are lengthened also. Could also create a need for more bodies. Hooray for us.
