I have noticed nosewheel shimmies, and the FIL about locked wheel turns had a crazy picture of a bad nosewheel bearing. Who knows. Could have been a bad PSEU too. I've heard one possible problem might have been the nosewheel centering mechanism didn't center the nosewheel, but that's entirely a rumor, so take it for what it's wroth. It certainly does sound like a possible cause, but I wouldn't go farther than that.
The one at the end of Sept was also in phl was a SBY crew going to HVN. Had a bad nosewheel shimmy on rotation got the gear unsafe light when they raised. Did the alternate extension and where able to taxi back to the gate.
