With all the high tech glass cockpits, we still need aux. power to do any kind of setup. And, a GPU or APU still aids in a cooler start.
The stuff I read made me curious. I used to be a Dash 8 CA. My airline didn't use APU's on the Dash. We used a plug in GPU or external power for engine starting.
From what I read, and I could be wrong or wrongly interpreted it. The Lear 85 will not have an onboard APU. A savings of 400 lbs? It would use an onboard elec air conditioning unit powered by GPU/external air, since all FBO's have External elec power units available but not all have air conditioning carts or PCA.
