Fellow American Eagle pilots,
This afternoon, we finished the successful testing process of our Mutual Inter-Domicile Transfer software. Let me begin by expressing my sincere appreciation to Andy McKee, a fellow Eagle pilot who devoted an unbelievable amount of his own time to program this software utility from scratch.
Although we have scheduled time with ALPA’s IT Department in early January to fully automate the process, it is now automated sufficiently to process the monthly MIDT award.
Mutual Inter-Domicile Transfer is a mechanism that supplements vacancy bidding by allowing two pilots in the same seat and equipment, yet different domiciles to swap domiciles on the first day of the next contractual month even if there are no similar vacancies posted.
In order to enter a base exchange request, pilots must access the ‘members only’ partition of ALPA.org on the MEC homepage and select the MIDT link. Upon reaching the form, the pilot must enter his American Eagle employee number, current bid status, and then up to five status preferences in order of the pilot’s priority.
Pilots who are not members of the Association or who have lost their ALPA.org log-in information may contact the MEC office and receive a paper version of the MIDT request form. This version MUST be notarized prior to returning the signed original to the MEC office.
In order to be eligible for MIDT, a pilot must be active with no “next” status. In other words, a DCE pilot who was awarded NCE is not eligible to participate in MIDT until after the effective date of his DCE-NCE status change.
The window for MIDT requests will close on Wednesday, December 3rd, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. Any MIDT requests submitted after that time will be held in abeyance for the following month’s processing. Until the system is fully automated in January, pilots who enter an MIDT request and later want to void that request must submit an additional form that has no preferences entered.
Prior to entering any MIDT requests, we strongly encourage interested pilots to review Letter of Agreement 06-06 in the American Eagle – ALPA collective bargaining agreement.
On the following page, we have included a screen shot of the on-line form.
Beginning Friday morning, American Eagle pilots will be able to submit their MIDT preferences. Please call the MEC office with any questions.
Fraternally,
Herb Mark
Chairman – EGL MEC
This e-mail came to me today from the Eagle MEC and it was the first time I had heard of something like this being put into effect at this company. I'm curious to hear what some of ya'll think about this and wonder how many will likely be submitting a request to transfer. I am currently OFE and will be looking for DFE when this comes through.
Couple of questions to get started: Is this software mandatory per the new contract amendment?
When will the transfer date become active? It reads like Jan 1, but I have a feeling that those awarded a domicile exchange will be bidding for their new base for the Feb contractual month...
