I hate to say it, but this was long overdue. While flying for another carrier, I had a family emergency and needed to get home ASAP. My son had been injured when a tornado hit our home in PickWick TN. I explained my situation to the crew and folks at the opertaions center in MSP. The pilots asked the "non-pilot" fedex employees, already on board, if they would be willing to give up a seat to a distraught father with an injured son. Not a one of them offered and would not even look at me. There were three more flights following that one and the same thing happend on the next flight. Finally a Fedex "Pilot" gave up his seat for me on the third flight. By the way, on that flight I was on, the non-pilot fedex employees accidently(?) ate the pilots crew meal while enroute to MEM. Glad to see the seats open for just pilots.
