Management gets paid to manage those companies and they've failed, over and over again. UAW's get paid to install transmissions. UAW's aren't involved in the decision to switch from steel bolts on the transmission to plastic bolts in order to save a few cents per vehicle. Now that the transmission is unreliable and the reputatuion of the company is deminished, some choose to translate that poor managment decision into over compensated UAW's.
