That comment right there about getting in with the dispatchers on their good side is exactly whats wrong with Colgan. Why should I get in on anyones's good side. I show up, do my job as best I can and go home. I don't have time to be cultivating and kissing anyone's ass. Besides, the dispacther's we have aren't exactly A-listers(Regine comes to mind).
I have been with pilots who complain about being activated off reserve and then fly into their reserve days. They then turn around on the phone buddy, buddy up with Jackay, Irene/Amy, Gina and the Clinster trying to horse trade a favorable schedule, not knowing this will only screw their fellow pilots who do not play such games's.
Stop the bs horsetrading, vote for the union and get a fair contract.

Why it is full of holes: You are required to list for a flight that will get you to your destination a "reasonable" amount of time before your showtime. What exactly is reasonable, to me its ten minutes to mgmt if they do not like you or want to deal with you it could be 2 days.
There has to be a "reasonable" amount of open seats. To me I call the jumpseat being open good. Are they looking for 2,3,10%? So basically you are not ever in the clear unless they decide they want you to be in the clear. To be honest your only hope as I have seen are the dispatchers. Get on their good side and they may just work something out for you without passing that information on to the powers that be.

Uniform allowance, yes it is good but 200 bucks does not put us on the same level as a quality airline and contract such as express. How about paying me a respectable rate for the equipment that I fly and ill buy my own uniform.
