I do not think flying newer jets is easier than flying 727s. I have flown 727s. In the past 15 years alone I have seen an incredible change in the training philosophy of primary training and airline training. Advances in technology aid our job in flying with better precision. It does not make flying easier for the masses, one still has to think.

Technology has aided the job of lawyers and doctors, (not comparing myself to them) however does it make their job easier, to the point that anyone can do it? Or is it another tool that allows them to work "better", "smarter".

Besides flying the 767 I also do work as an IP and TCE in aircraft with modern technology. Guess what, they make the same mistakes as the ones did in the 727. In fact they are on the hook for more (as there is more to know with an advanced avionics suite.)

Instead of dumbing down the profession, try to raise it. We as professional pilots are now required to know more to operate these advanced aircraft. The fact that fewer accidents have occurred is a testament to our training and advancement in SOPs.

Out of all the professions out there I am still shocked ours is the ONLY one that still has people trying to put a limit on what we "should" make.

P.S. I own a $2000+ Mac computer. I would not purchase a cheap $600 computer. You get what you pay for.
