They never intended to sell it. It is from the same playbook they ran several years ago when they wanted to sell executive... in both cases it was during contract ammendmant rounds... and, if there ever was any doubt that they had NO intention of selling... go talk with a few people who had the opportunity to see the prohibitions-restrictions & requirements on any buyer... the only deal they put forth, was so expensive, and so restrictive that the only logical conclusion was that it wasn't for sale.... the press release did get the iceland group investors off their back though.

In the words of Bob Crandal.... everything AMR has is for sale, you just can't afford it. AMR will sell Eagle, right around the same time they sell American... ain't gonna happen.
