Yeah if you go to the news site that's linked and click on the hyperlink to the ARJ21-700 aircraft info, it talks about the design. Quote:
"The ARJ 21 is built using tooling provided by McDonnell Douglas for licenses production of the MD-90. The ARJ21 has a strong resemblance to the DC-9 series aircraft with identical nose profile and cabin cross-section."
So there you go. They aren't ashamed at all. DC-9 on the outside and in the cabin, CRJ in the cockpit and on the engine pylons....
