So, the 600 lbs. is for cargo+people+pets+fuel. Minus 30 gal. fuel (180 lbs.) that leaves only 420 lbs. for everything. Two people will knock 400 lbs. off that easy. Now you are down to 20 lbs. It will be no time before someone goofs up, throws a dog or a loaded ice chest in the back... the picture is not pretty.
How's that any different than a 172 which in all practical purposes is a two person airplane? A quick W&B of an R model shows 450lbs after full tanks. On top of that there are two very tempting seats in back to place an extra couple hundred pounds in.
